Buddhist monks offer prayers for victims of the March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami at Kitaizumi beach in Minamisoma, Fukushima prefecture, some 25 km (15 miles) from the tsunami-crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant March 10, 2012, a day before the disaster’s one-year anniversary. The magnitude 9.0 earthquake on March 11, last year, unleashed a tsunami that killed about 16,000 and triggered the world’s worst nuclear crisis since Chernobyl. About 326,000 people are still homeless and nearly 3,300 remain unaccounted for.

August 29th, 1935-April 21st, 2012

Wow…I can’t believe it’s been one year since my grandpa passed away. It’s crazy how time flies. Ever since he passed away, I’ve literally thought about him every single day. Always had cherish-able memories of him. He’s always been there for me, and I wish I could’ve appreciated more of his time while he was here. I’m so thankful I had him apart of my life for 18 years and I wish there were more to come. I remember him telling me, “be careful, she might rape you.” Haha.

When I was elementary school, my grandpa would always come over to my house around 5:30 AM, and when it was time for me to wake up, he’d always walk into my room, flip the light switch and say, “dom…time to get up.” I used to get so mad because I was sleepy and wouldn’t want to wake up. You know, even the days he didn’t come, he would sit outside of his house and watch my sister and I get on the bus.

Anyways, enough with that…I’m glad my grandpa is in a better place. You may be gone, but you’ll never be forgotten.

Rest in Peace, Grandpa. I love you.

I was in Mexico at a resort, and these wild dogs lived on the beach. Every morning I would wake up at sunrise when no one else was awake and run along the beach with them. It was the best part of my trip, by far!
